John Edwards is a sanctimonious hypocrite.
He is still my least favorite Senator, except for McCain. Oh, and Lieberman. And Lott, Kennedy, Santorum, Stevens ... they pretty much all stink, huh? The difficulty would be in finding a good one.
Posted by Walter at November 19, 2006 06:48 PMMost modern politicians are so far from the Jeffersonian ideals that many libertarians and others who prefer modest-sized government have been rooting for some sort of divided government, just for a bit of relief from the unrelenting growth in every area. But then election night becomes like rooting for the Broncos to win by some specified margin, doesn't it?
Meanwhile, people I meet on the highland canal trail seem universally happy.... joyful even, that the election season has finally come to an end and those horrid politial adds have disappeared. And that's in spite of the fact that neither of our US Senators were up for re-election!
We live in time of amazing progress, remarkable good will... and the most horrid crop of elected officials in history.... guess we are riding out a very long wave of good luck proceeding from folk like Thomas Jefferson, Susan B Anthony, Mark Twain, and Will Rogers.
Sometime when you are tempted to sit down and watch the evening news (which is mostly about bad things happening to good folk, or about the various plans of assorted politicians), instead watch a life-affirming movie like "Love Actually" or get involved in some good plan to make things better.
