According to Diane Carman, The Da Vinci Code is all about the patriarchy keeping women down, or something. Take any opportunity to make a point about the evil of men.

Not about society in general, but about the Catholic Church. It is a patriarchy. Simple fact. You can argue that it's a good thing or a bad thing, but you can't argue that it is.
That the Church hierarchy has aggressively maintained that patriarchy saturates the Dan Brown novel and pops-up frequently in the movie.
