The establishment had to be dragged kicking and screaming, but a Colorado man who bypassed the system received his kidney transplant today. Kudos and Godspeed to a pioneer.

I should note that the hospital in question is just a few blocks from the house and is where the twins were born back in July.
Posted by Walter at October 20, 2004 10:21 PMGood for everyone involved. The donor pulled a Cartman and screamed that it's his body, he do what he want. Meanwhile, the doctors realized that letting the recipient die wasn't an option. Nobody loses except the media who got stuck with a non-story.

At one point, the guy said that what we have to ask is whether the kidney belongs to the individual or to the community and that it comes down to an issue of fairness.
I can't tell you how disturbed I was.
