The biggest yet. We've reserved space at the Denver Press Club. Expect the turnout to be high. With this much advance notice, you've got plenty of time to make airline reservations.

Bump and update:

Various items will be available in a silent auction format, with proceeds benefitting The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. If you have anything you'd like to donate, contact me walter..at..walterindenver..com (without the extra dots, natch) You'll get some nice publicity for your trouble.

Remember, the Denver Press Club is at 1330 Glenarm, just a little way North of Colfax in downtown Denver. We'll get started around 7 PM, or thereabout.

Kudos to Zombyboy for the graphics and Darren Copeland for the lead on the Denver Press Club.

Every time I hear about a blogger bash, I want to go, but something or other comes up, preventing me from attending.:( Maybe next time I'll luck out and make the pilgrimage from Colorado Springs. BTW, what time of day does it start, and can you give the address of the Denver Press Club?

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Denver Press Club, (303) 571-5260, 1330 Glenarm Place Denver, CO 80204.

This is great news.

Being carless, I wonder if possibly anyone else might be going from Denver who might give me a lift. If it's bus-accessible, I could probably bus in, but doubt I could bus back.

/me whips out the light-rail map

The "D" line goes to 14th/California. You probably already knew that though. I light-railed in to the last one, no troubles. Does that help?

Gary, I'll probably be able to help you out. E-mail me if you can. (You might want to have a back-up plan handy.)

Here's a map if anyone needs it.

What time do the festivities start?

Ed, where we are, is the party. In other words, it starts whenever we get there.

The hell with all that, where's the girl?

Second that. Where's the chick in the link from vodkapundit?

That was Jeff Goldstein's link with the babe, not mine.

And I'm very sorry about that.

The Press Club is well worth visiting, a National Historic Landmark that reopened last fall after an extensive remodelling job. There's a gallery of newsmaker caricatures in the main dining room, and usually an exhibit upstairs.

"The club is one of the most distinctive private clubs in America. For more than a century, it's played host to poets and presidents, writers and visiting journalists. Ginger Rogers learned to play poker here. Carl Sandburg stopped in for dinner. Damon Runyon drank here. Woodrow Wilson paid a call." (DPC Web site)

And we'll be able to talk without screaming ourselves hoarse, which is always nice. Great idea of Darren's.

Unless there's some special thing downtown that night, the nearby parking lots are $3, and the meters south of Colfax (one block away) go off after 6 p.m. Updates later as needed

--linda seebach, Rocky Mountain News (and Press Club member)

On Colorado Matters, Dan Drayer recently interviewed the president of the DPC about the remodeling, and how it was to a huge extent financed by Dean Singleton and carried out by DPC members with their bare hands.

I must say they did a wonderful job.

Hey Walt....me again. Still wondering about that Biff Rose question.
Tell ya what....
I'll just do a post at my site about why I want to know this, okay?
(Briefly, I got an email from the guy two years ago where he mentions "Walter in Denver" is his producer and then I found you, so, naturally...I'm wondering.)

Oh sure don't list the airfare from D.C. Just for that, I'm not coming. :)

Do we have to be a Colorado blogger to attend the festivities? I live one state west and read soooooo many RMB's that I would love to have an excuse for a road trip to meet them...

Of course. The farther you travel to get to the Bash the more likely that someone will buy you a drink.

and remember to bring darts....yes darts...the downstairs is pretty cool. I may have to give my ghost tour about the two that live in the DPC...an added twist.

mwhhaahhhhhhh *cough* *gag* hahhhhh!!!

Whew! For a moment there, Darren, I thought you said, "tarts."

A free drink? Well, then...how can I not come?

Darren said "darts" remember...

No tarts? Forget it then, I'm not going.

Wow, all youze guys are Denverites? I didn't realize. This looks way too cool. Paul and I would love to check it out, so count us in...

I'll be attending in spite of the fact that my side of the political spectrum (and my gender) is outnumbered. :)

I am neither a "babe" nor a "tart" though. Just for the record.

(I anticipate a good time in spite of my bad experience last year when an unexpected and severe reaction from some medication I was taking put me in bed for two days. I don't blame the psychic 'waves' from all of those bloggers trying to convince me Left Is Wrong, for that, though.)

But I do think someone should inform Steve's Bride about that "tarts" remark. (I hope the honeymoon isn't over?)

What time does this shindig start on 5/28?

If regular commenters are eligible, count me in.

Is this a free (as in beer) event?

The event is open source. The beer is proprietary.

Or something like that.

How about irregular commentators?

Just eat more fiber, Ken -- then come to the party.

How soon in advance are these usually announced?

I believe The Queen and I would attend one if we were able to plan it six months or so out. (We're poor so we have to budget and save up.)

who gives a flying flip about wanna be news guy bloggers who think they are so shmarty?
show me more of that ass!

GI Joe raises a valid point.

I'll bet the girl in Jeff's picture has a couple of valid points of her own...

Figures, we're not moving out to Colorado Springs for a few months, and we just got back last week.
I'll just have to make next year's bash!

No one has answered the question on the girl...

Erm, what time? Is there a map? What's the cost? How much are drinks? Is it a full bar? What kind of beers.

Info. Yes. I crave more of it. Please.

Skeej, we were sort of hoping that you would be bringing the girls...

I'm hoping to be there. Maybe I'll even bring MY girl, though she's spoken for.

Just a heads up, due to time limitations, looks like the silent auction is a no-go, unless you and Zomby had discussed in the last 24-48 hours.

However, there still might be a wee bit of a fundraiser for the charity in light of some materials I've recently acquired. We shall see.

Well, heck - I was hoping to make it, but with the folks in town, it's a non-starter. This time. I'll stay tuned.

Ok! You've convinced me! Between the discussions of tarts and beer, I have found myself in a position where I am unable to deny myself the pleaseure of attending this gathering.

I will not be bringing any tarts with me. Sorry

Looks great, but I'm gonna have miss out on this one. Y'all have a great time.

Alas, I will not be in attendance, but my better half will. Cheers to all of you and certain ones of you know who to call if you get too drunk.

:)

Damn...I shoulda never moved away from Boulder and back out to Ohio...

Damn but you guys are funny. I greatly enjoyed the string of comments.

Blogger Bash....What is this program about? If it is a kind of a joke?
