Voting For Principles

Brian W. Doss:

Upon reflection, I have to give credit to the Greens who did vote for Nader last time around, in states where it mattered. They had more balls/principles than a lot of the libertarians who, in fear of Gore, jumped to Bush in 2000 despite Bush's straightforward admission of being socialist-lite (er, a "compassionate conservative", a dubious badge to willingly wear in any case). Hopefully, those who turned to Bush in 2000 will not repeat their mistake.

Don't bet on it.

Given how few libertarians actually voted for the LP candidate in either 2000 or 1996, I'd have to agree with you. I like to keep a little hope alive, though, that Bush's mad spending spree and his cynical domestic policy might wake a few of the brethren up...

Well, this li'l GOP boy is awfully glad that quite a few libertarians did vote for Bush. And on Sep. 11th, I was thankful that he was the president instead of Gore.

I understand your point (truly, honestly). I still think things worked out better than if he hadn't been voted president.
