Bryan Westhoff has changed his mind about the Bush administration. From his own words:
Up until now I had been, what I consider, very middle of the road when it came to my take on the Bush Administration and the war. As the whole thing started, I saw some very good points as to why war might be necessary, or at the very least desirable.

Now we have this story from the New York Times that the F.B.I. has been collecting extensive information on the tactics, training and organization of antiwar demonstrators. I am honestly stunned, but maybe I've just been naive. Its been said a lot that this administration uses the rhetoric of "You're with the President or you are unpatriotic" but to this point that criticism never carried much weight with me. It does now.
This administration is making a mistake if it thinks the public, even conservatives, will support absolutely any restriction of freedom in this country. Americans know that a country that isn't free isn't worth defending. It wasn't too many generations ago that our ancestors renounced their old countries and became enthusiastics citizens of a new country. Not that it could happen again- where would we go? But 'my country wrong or right' isn't an American attitude. Or at least it wasn't how our ancestors thought.
